Between Two Armies: The Turning Point- An elaborate discourse on Chapter One of the Bhagavad Gītā, identifying the root cause of human dejection and the ultimate means for overcoming it.

The book offers an elaborate discourse on the first chapter of Bhagavad Gītā. It was first written by Satyanarayana Dasa Babaji in the year 2000 (originally titled “Yoga of Dejection”) and has now been substantially updated and revised in this Second Edition titled “Between Two Armies: The Turning Point”, published in 2026.

Human life is beset with problems of varying degrees. Although human beings seek happiness, every pleasure pursued in the material world is ephemeral and ultimately culminates in misery and dejection.

While no one welcomes misery, it has a vital role in human life, because it shakes us from our slumber of ignorance and propels us toward the ultimate goal of life — the supreme, unending bliss untainted by misery. Just as a thorn can be used to remove a thorn, misery is the affliction that compels us to seek its cessation.

All Vedic philosophies begin with the goal of finding a permanent solution to misery. Among these schools of thought, the philosophy of the Gītā is the best because of its simplicity and practical approach.

The Gītā analyzes the root cause of our problems — it teaches how to overcome misery and dejection and how to taste bliss in this very life by learning to transcend material duality. By understanding the Gītā, we can resolve our problems once and for all.
