Vraj The Pinnacle Of Sublimity (Volume-4)  "Kamyavan, Uncagaon, Barsana, Ashta Sakhi Villages" - The Gopis, the fair-complexioned associates of Srimati Radharani, the Queen of Vrindavan, are drvided into five groups: the Sakhis, Nitya-Sakhis, Prana-Sakhis, Priya-Sakhis, and Parama-Prestha-Sakhis. The Parama-Preshta-Sakhis are eight (Ashta Sakhis) in number. They are Lalita, Vishakha, Champakalata, Chitra, Tungavidya, Indulekha, Rangadevi, and Sudevi.

These eight Sakhis are the best among all the Sakhis. They are only interested to serve Sri Radha Krsna in all aspects of their existence, whole-heartedly and selflessly. In the ecstatic dealings of the Divine Couple, these Ashta Sakhis sometimes support Sri Radha and at other times support Sri Krsna to create a situation that just favors one against the other. In this way, these Sakhis make the exchange of mellows more pleasing.
