?r?la Vi?van?tha Cakravart? ?h?kura was inspired to write Surata Kath??mrta which is a ?atakam (hundred verses), in the Arya-meter, after reading verse 52 of ?r?la R?pa Gosv?m?'s Utkalika Vallari. Utkalik? means 'very intense eagerness mixed with extreme restlessness, ' and vallar? means 'creeper'. Utkalik?-vallar? thus means 'the vine of intense longings'. In this book, ?r?la R?pa Gosv?m? reveals the very nature of these longings, which consists solely of the desire to render service to ?r? ?r? R?dh?-K???a as the devoted majar? maidservant of ?r?mat? R?dhik?.
