Sri Garga Muni describes how the Personified Vedas and previous sages become gopis, how the women of Mithila, Kausala and Ayodhya get the benediction to become gopis, and how Srimati Radharani instructs the gopis to observe Ekadashi to win Krishna's favor. This is the first part of the 4th Canto of Garga Samhita, written by Sri Garga Muni. He is recognized as highly elevated in austerity and penance. He lived at the time of Lord Krsna's appearance on earth and was the family priest of the Yadu dynasty. He was not only an ordinary person as seen by material senses, he was also a great authority in the knowledge of astrology.
