Ekadashi Mahimamrita (HINDI)- It is said in the Puranas that a person who fasts on Ekadashi is absolved of all sins and leads a holy life. The basic principle is not merely fasting, but increasing devotion and love towards Govinda or Krishna. The real reason for fasting on Ekadashi is to reduce the needs of the body and to devote one�s time to the service of the Lord by doing kirtan or other similar activities. On the day of fasting it is best to remember the pastimes of Govinda and to recite his holy name continuously. (Bhaktirasaamrita Sindhu 7)
